Māori Tukutuku Panels - Traditional Wall Art
Our tukutuku panels are living patterns - woven stories that carry the wisdom and beauty of Māori design.
At Whitiwhiti Taonga, we create tukutuku that honour traditional techniques while embracing contemporary style, bringing cultural depth to homes, mārae, and public spaces.
The Story Behind Tukutuku
Tukutuku panels are an ancient form of Māori art used to adorn the walls of whare tūpuna.
Each pattern, such as poutama or roimata toroa, represents concepts of growth, connection, and rememberance.
Through tukutuku, we pass on ancesteral mātauranga (knowledge) and celebrate the creativity of our people.

Our Weaving Process
Each tukutuku panel is woven by hand using natural rauemi (materials) such as kiekie, pīngao and native rakau (timber).
We follow traditional binding methods, ensuring every stitch aligns with the patterns deeper meaning.
Our Process is slow, mindful, and filled with aroha - every piece is a taonga.
